All flat, all doable on a beach cruiser, all tested by us. These are the routes we point people at when they ask, and the reason a lot of our reviews mention getting directions along with the bike.
About 6 miles / easy
Pick up the beach path near Las Olas Boulevard and ride north along A1A with the ocean on your right the whole way. Flat, breezy and mostly separated from traffic. Turn around at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, or keep going if the legs feel good. Best in the morning before the sun gets high.
About 3 miles / very easy
Start downtown and follow the New River through Riverwalk Park. Shaded, traffic-free and it passes most of the good downtown restaurants. The right choice with kids, or for a short ride before dinner. This one starts a couple of blocks from where we are based.
About 2 miles each way / easy
Ride east down Las Olas Boulevard past the shops and restaurants, over the intracoastal, and you are at the beach. Detour through the Isles on the way back for quiet streets and some serious houses to look at.
About 5 miles round trip / easy
Two and a half miles of paved path right alongside the sand, with food and drink the whole way. Busy in the middle of the day, so go early or near sunset. Worth heading south for if you have the bike for a few days.
We have been renting bikes in Fort Lauderdale since 2011 and we ride these routes ourselves. When we drop your bike off, ask where to eat, where the quiet stretches are, and what to skip. It costs nothing and it is usually the bit people remember.
We will deliver it to where you are staying and point you at the right route.
